Day 25: Maritime Greenwich | FindPenguins
Day 25: Royal Observatory Greenwich | FindPenguins
We went to another UNESCO site today, the Maritime Greenwich. We first took the tube and went to the Cannon Street Station, then transfer to the train to Greenwich Station. We could take the tube directly from Wimbledon, however, we got the 2For1 promotion again. So we had to take the train to there. But transit was pretty easy and straight forward.

We first walked around the town and the Cutty Sark area. Cutty Sark was a big ship that you could visit with a fee. But we didn’t spend time there as our focus was the Royal Observatory Greenwich. We then discovered an interesting foot tunnel nearby that could cross the water by your foot! We went to the opposite side of Greenwich and looked back at the Greenwich area.

This was the highlight of our trip in Greenwich. We always love to learn more about Time zones and the Prime Meridian. We could step on the Prime Meridian, a geographical reference line that passes
through the Royal Observatory, Greenwich. The Museums are interesting to visit. A funny story that we missed to record the red ball dropping ceremony happening every 1pm every day since 1800s. We were having lunch at the park bench inside the observatory. We saw the ball was about to drop. But Chris said that it would happen every hour. So we thought we had another chance to record it. But, obviously we missed our chance. Oh well, at least we had got a chance to see it with our eyes

Day 23: Kews Royal Botanic Garden | FindPenguins
Our first visiting spot in London! We first took the train to Richmond station, then walk to here. This Royal Botanic Garden is huge! Today was tough because of the weather. So we got wet, dry, wet, dry as well. It didn’t help when we had to carry our laundry with us for the visit as the weather is so humid that it was so difficult to dry the clothes in the UK. Therefore, instead of doing laundry at our friend’s place, we decided to find a laundromat. But, laundromat is not that common in the UK apparently. Lucky that there was one next to the Garden, so we decided to bring our laundry with us to the Garden

The Garden has a few green houses to visit. The most impressive one is the 2-storey green house at next to the Victoria Gate Entrance. We have never seen such a giant green house before. It was also one of the more ancient green house, which a lot of the modern ones followed its architectural design. (Like the tiny green house in the University of Guelph, it had similar design as this one). Despite the weather and weight, we actually had a lot of fun just walking around the area.

After visiting this place, we went off to do our laundry. After that, we went to the Kews Garden underground station to take the Tube back to Wimbledon.

Day 22: Passing through Birmingham again | FindPenguins
Day 22: London Victoria Station | FindPenguins
Day 22: Arriving at Wimbledon | FindPenguins
Today was a transit day for us.  We took a train back to the Birmingham City, then took a 3-hour Megabus Ride to London Victoria Coach Station.  After that, another short underground train ride to our destination in Wimbledon, London.  We will staying with our friend's house for a few days while we toured around the city of London!

After 9 nights staying with our friend in Sutton Coldfield, near Birmingham area, we were about to head out to London! It is nice to see the train running again as they have been stopped (so did we haha) for Christmas.

It’s Birmingham New Street Station again! We were catching the Megabus from Birmingham to London Victoria Coach Station. The Bull at the station got very active when it saw us in the morning this tim~ Bye bye the Bull~

The 3-hour Megabus Ride took us from Birmingham to London Victoria Coach Station. We then walked to the Victoria underground station and took the District Line to make our way to Wimbledon, where we stayed there for a few nights.

Wimbledon is a place at the edge of the city of London. It is the end of the District Line. It could be easily accessed by Tube (underground) and National Rail. 30 mins by tube to London City Center, not too bad!

Day 16: Wall Roman Site | FindPenguins
Day 16: Trent and Mersey Canal | FindPenguins
Wall sits on Watling Street, and ancient trackway paved and extended by the Romans, which connects Wall Roman Site to Wroxeter Roman City. We saw the remains of the Roman settlement of Letocetum. It is owned by National Trust.  It's lovely to visit this Roman Ruins and learnt that "Wall" is the name of the town but not just a wall.  After visiting the Wall Roman Site, my friends took us to the Trent and Mersey Canal, which is a narrow canal.  It reminded us of Ottawa Rideau Canal but with a small version.  We walked a part of the Canal and also came across a manual controlled bridge.

Day 11: Tour around Bristol | FindPenguins
Day 11: Bristol Temple Meads Station | FindPenguins
After arriving Bristol, we spent a day walking around the town.  My friend recommended us to visit the Clifton Suspension Bridge nearby their place.  In summer, this is the venue where the hot balloon festival will be held.  Then from the Bridge, we walked back to the Bristol Temple Meads Station, with UNESCO world heritage background and was related to the London Paddington Station.  On the way to the station, we passed through the floating harbour, which a lot of sailboats were anchored  and restaurants are operating along the harbour.  It's a lovely place to walk around.
